Biography
After earning his PhD degree in Sichuan University in 1994, he was promoted to a Professor in Sichuan University in 1995. He was a visiting professor of Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Germany) with the support of DAAD in 1999, and in the University of Nottingham (UK) in 2002 with the support of the Royal Society, respectively.
He is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Honorary President of China Flame Retardant Society, the Vice President of Degradable Plastic Committee of CPPIA, Associate Director of National Technical Committee for Standardization of Bio-Based and Biodegradable Products. He is also the members of Review Panel of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Scientific and Technology Prizes, and a member of the Science and Technology Committee of Ministry of Education.
As a principle researcher, he has accomplished over 100 projects supported financially by the governments and companies, authored over 500 refereed SCI journal papers and 10 books and chapters, held 110 patents, and delivered more than 100 endowed and invited lectures. As a chairman, he organized some international and national academic conferences.
He was granted the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2005), awarded Cheung Kong Scholar of Ministry of Education of China (2006), State Talent of China in 21st Century (2006), Younger Prize of Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology of Chinese Engineering Academy (2004), Excellent Postgraduate’s Advisor of Sichuan Province (2000). He was awarded the Science & Technology Progress Award of the Ho-Leung-Ho-Lee Foundation (2017), the Highest Award of Sichuan Province for Science and Technology (2017), and eleven Science & Technology Awards by the State Council, Ministry of Education, Provincial Governments of China (1999-2014), etc. He was selected as one of the most popular teachers by the students in Sichuan University.
